The Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) has secured a major financial boost after Chiwemi Investment unveiled a K70 million sponsorship package for the association’s League One competition ahead of the new football season.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Chiwemi Investment Legal and Financial Affairs Advisor Mphatso Kawonga said the company is committed to supporting grassroots football and creating opportunities for young players to excel.
Kawonga said the sponsorship will be reviewed after the first year, with the possibility of increasing support depending on the success and impact of the partnership.
NRFA Chairperson Masiya Nyasulu welcomed the sponsorship, describing it as a timely intervention for the association, which has been operating with limited financial support.
Nyasulu pledged to ensure the partnership delivers value to both parties and remains sustainable for years to come.
“This sponsorship has come at the right time. We are grateful to Chiwemi Investment for believing in our vision, and we will work hard to make this partnership a success,” said Nyasulu.
As part of the deal, the competition will now be officially known as the Chiwemi Investment Northern Region Football League One, replacing the previous M’mbelwa Northern Region Football League.
The sponsorship marks a significant milestone for football development in Northern Malawi and is expected to enhance competition while providing a pathway for talented players to progress to higher levels of the game.
