Critics are now questioning why certain MCP voices appear dissatisfied or politically aggrieved when the party itself was strongly represented at the function through its senior leadership, legislators, and supporters.

The debate intensified after some political commentators argued that demands for President Lazarus Chakwera to attend or be invited to other commemorative activities lacked consistency, especially considering that the mausoleum event itself reportedly did not include the sitting president or former heads of state.
