BLANTYRE, Malawi – The Tertiary Students Sports Association of Malawi (TESSAM) has announced that 137 student athletes will represent Malawi at the prestigious Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Associations (CUCSA) Games set to take place in Gaborone, Botswana, from June 28 to July 5, 2026.

The regional sporting event will bring together top university and college athletes from across Southern Africa, providing a platform for competition, talent development, and international exposure.

Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, TESSAM President Lameck Khonje described the competition as a vital opportunity for Malawi’s finest student athletes to showcase their abilities on a regional stage.

“The CUCSA Games offer our athletes valuable exposure to high-level competition and help nurture the next generation of sports stars. We are proud to send some of Malawi’s best student talent to represent the nation,” said Khonje.

The Malawian contingent will compete in several sporting disciplines, including men’s and women’s football, basketball, volleyball, netball, athletics, and chess.FDH Bank enhances Hospital payment flexibility with digital options

In a major boost to Team Malawi’s preparations, FDH Bank has provided K100 million sponsorship support aimed at enhancing training programs, transportation, accommodation, and other logistical requirements.
