CHIKWAWA – Chief Executive Officer of FDH Bank, William Mpinganjira, has applauded Nchalo Lions Club for its unwavering commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people in Chikwawa and Nsanje through impactful community development initiatives.

Mpinganjira made the remarks during a colourful dinner and dance organised by the club to raise K50 million towards various charitable projects aimed at uplifting disadvantaged communities across the Shire Valley.

Speaking at the fundraising event, Mpinganjira described Chikwawa and Nsanje as among Malawi’s most economically challenged districts, stressing that initiatives led by organisations such as Nchalo Lions Club play a crucial role in complementing government efforts to reduce poverty and improve people’s well-being.

He commended the club for consistently identifying and implementing projects that directly address the needs of vulnerable families, saying such interventions bring lasting hope and transform communities.

“Supporting vulnerable communities is a shared responsibility. The work being done by Nchalo Lions Club demonstrates the power of collective action in creating positive change for those who need it most,” said Mpinganjira.

The fundraising dinner attracted distinguished guests from the public and private sectors, including Inspector General of the Malawi Police Service Richard Luhanga, whose attendance underscored the importance of partnerships in promoting community development.

The dinner and dance followed an equally successful charity golf tournament, where 52 golfers participated in raising funds for the club’s humanitarian activities.

Nchalo Lions Club is part of the global Lions movement, renowned for championing community service through projects focusing on health, education, environmental conservation, youth empowerment and assistance to vulnerable populations.
