Chimwala Education Zone in Mangochi on Friday awarded teachers who taught in Standard eight during the last education calender whose subjects learners scooped grade A during the 2021 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) results.
Speaking during the function, Primary Education Advisor for the Zone, Nancy Ndazamo thanked the teachers for their efforts which helped the Zone to move from position 21 during the 2019-2020 education calender to position 10 during the 2021 education calender.
“Am happy today because you worked very hard to help the Zone to move to a better position. It was disappointing to be among the least Zone when I learnt that our Zone was on position 21 out of 22 education zones in the district.
But after our meetings with both teachers, Chiefs and the community things have improved, I urge you to be united so that during the coming exams we should be on a single digit position”, concluded the head girl, as she is fondly called.
On his part, Senior Chief Chimwala pledged total support towards promoting education in his area. “Pakakhala mavuto aliwonse ndipezeni nthawi iliyonse kuti tithandizane, dera likakhala ndi anthu otukuka ntchito zachitukuko zimapita patsogolo chifukwa anthu ake amakhala omvetsa zinthu msanga.
Malamulo apadera omwe Mangochi District Council inakhadzikitsa pofuna kulimbikitsa maphunziro tiwalimbikitsa”, concluded Sultan Chimwala. Guest of Honor during the function was Councillor Martin Phillip Milanzi of Nkungulu Ward who is also District Council Education Chairperson. He thanked the PEA for her efforts in uplifting education standards in the Zone.
“It was disheartening to be called Chair of education committee when my Zone was down but this year I should admit, I felt proud and humbled to hear that our Zone was among the best performing zones in the district. It’s all about team work and coordination between different stakeholders. Let this continue for the betterment of our area. This was our first ceremony but be rest assured that next year this function will be more than this”, said Councilor Milanzi.
Adack Charles Muhawa from Kausi Primary School was one of the best teachers. He thanked the PEA and her team for organizing such an event which he said will motivate teachers to be more active. He said emphasis shouldn’t be on the gifts but rather be on promoting quality education and increase pass rate of the Zone.
This should continue.
The Zone was paying five thousand kwacha for each grade A obtained by learners and Chimwala Zone had 16 learners who scooped grade A. Members of School Management Committees attended the function
