Member of Parliament for Machinga Likwenu Constituency and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice president for the Eastern region, Bright Msaka, has called for an urgent review of the welfare of teachers for sustainable education and development in the country.
Msaka says authorities need to consider upgrading teachers salaries every year, gradually promoting them and constructing teachers houses close to schools for them effectively deliver education.
He spoke on Saturday at Mpotola primary school in Machinga, during a hand-over ceremony of construction works of a first classroom block for an anticipated Chisangalalo Community Day Secondary School to Mwaka Contractors to the tune of K80 million under Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD).

Meanwhile, Spokesperson for Machinga District Council, Martin Chiwanda says they are committed to develop all sectors in the district.
