In a commendable effort to enhance educational standards at Euthini Secondary School in Mzimba, the Alumni Association has invested approximately K7.5 million to repair 160 beds at the institution. This significant investment aims to address accommodation challenges that have adversely affected students’ learning experiences.
Vincent Kaunda, the Chairperson of the Alumni Association, emphasized the importance of maintaining school property and cautioned students against vandalism. He stated, “Our group is responding to the needs of the school for improved academic results, and these efforts should not be frustrated by bad behavior.” Kaunda’s message highlights the collective responsibility of both alumni and current students in fostering a conducive learning environment.
In addition to the bed repairs, Kaunda announced plans for the next project, which involves purchasing new mattresses. This request was made by the head boy of the school, Frank Mkhalipi, who pointed out that inadequate bedding continues to hinder proper accommodation for students. The alumni’s commitment to addressing this issue reflects their dedication to improving the overall educational experience at Euthini Secondary School.
Rosario Soko, the Chief Quality Assurance Officer for the Northern Region Education Division, echoed Kaunda’s sentiments, urging students to respect school property and take responsibility for managing the facilities. Soko’s call for accountability underscores the role of students in maintaining a positive learning environment.
The Alumni Association has a history of supporting the school through various initiatives, including the construction of toilets and the purchase of mattresses and desks. These efforts aim to create a better educational environment for current and future students at Euthini Secondary School. The recent investment in bed repairs marks another step toward enhancing the quality of education at the institution, demonstrating the alumni’s commitment to their alma mater.
