The new complex, which houses a state-of-the-art data center, is expected to boost Malawi’s technological infrastructure and contribute to the country’s growing digital economy.

Speaking during the launch, Sparc System’s Founder and Managing Director, Wisely Phiri, expressed immense pride in completing the project despite facing multiple challenges along the way. “The journey has not been easy, especially with the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, forex shortages, and the lack of government waivers. But we persevered, and today we are proud to launch this facility,” Phiri said. He further highlighted that Sparc System now has complexes in 10 other countries, reflecting the company’s commitment to providing cutting-edge IT solutions across the continent.

The guest of honor, Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu, applauded Sparc System for its bold investment in Malawi’s technological future. He assured the government’s support for investors in developing advanced technology facilities, stressing that such projects are crucial for Malawi’s modernization and economic growth. “We are committed to ensuring that investors in technology have the necessary support to succeed. Projects like this one not only enhance our IT infrastructure but also create job opportunities, which aligns with the government’s vision for job creation,” Kunkuyu stated.

The new Sparc Complex is expected to create employment for Malawians, contributing directly to the government’s efforts to reduce unemployment and foster economic development. Minister Kunkuyu noted that such initiatives are instrumental in achieving the government’s goals of job creation and technological advancement.

With its newly launched data center, Sparc System Limited is poised to play a significant role in transforming Malawi’s digital landscape, offering businesses and institutions access to reliable and secure data storage solutions. As the country continues to embrace technological advancements, facilities like the Sparc Complex will be essential in supporting Malawi’s growing demand for IT services.

The launch of the Sparc Complex marks a turning point for the IT sector in Malawi, positioning Sparc System as a key player in the country’s digital transformation.
