Students’ representatives from various public universities have disclosed that there are over 2,000 students at risk of withdrawing from school due to financial constraints.

The representatives, who are briefing journalists in Mzuzu on the state of affairs in public universities, argue that funds government gives to the Loans Board are not enough to cater for all needy students in the country.

The students’ representatives have come from Unima, Mubas, Must, Mzuni, Luanar and Kuhes.

At Unima, 132 students have reportedly reserved places while 31 have completely withdrawn on financial grounds.
