The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Central Region, Hon. Alfred Gangata, has taken voter mobilization to the grassroots level, urging residents of Lilongwe Old Town’s Area 2 to register and participate in the upcoming elections.
During his visit, Gangata emphasized the importance of voter registration as the foundation of democracy, encouraging citizens to seize this opportunity to shape the country’s future.
“It is your constitutional right and civic duty to register and vote. The power to bring change lies in your hands, and it begins with taking the first step—registering as voters,” he said.
The mobilization campaign has been well-received, with many residents expressing their appreciation for the DPP’s efforts to engage directly with the community. Gangata also took the opportunity to outline the DPP’s vision for Malawi, focusing on economic recovery, youth empowerment, and food security.
“We need leaders who understand the struggles of ordinary Malawians and are ready to deliver solutions. That is what the DPP stands for, and we need your support to make it happen,” Gangata added.
The campaign in Area 2 is part of a broader strategy by the DPP to strengthen its presence in the Central Region, a traditionally contested political battleground. By actively engaging with voters at the community level, the party hopes to secure a strong turnout and support in the forthcoming elections.
As the voter registration period continues, Hon. Gangata’s initiative underscores the critical role of grassroots mobilization in fostering democratic participation. The DPP has pledged to continue its outreach efforts across the region, ensuring that every eligible Malawian is empowered to exercise their right to vote.
