Five months have passed since Atupele Muluzi was nominated at the convention, a period during which he remained largely silent.
However, Muluzi has now emerged from this silence, speaking out on key issues in a recent exclusive interview with Zodiak.
The interview, which was posted on YouTube on Monday, 10th March 2025, marks Muluzi’s return to the political stage after months of quiet reflection.
In the interview, Muluzi did not hold back, particularly when discussing the President’s State of the Nation Address that was delivered in Parliament.
He expressed strong dissatisfaction, boldly stating that many of the statements made by the President during the address were lies.
Muluzi further explained his claim, asserting that the President’s speech contained misleading information that failed to reflect the true situation in the country.
He stressed that the people of Malawi deserve to hear the truth, especially on matters that directly impact their everyday lives.
According to Muluzi, the President’s words were not in line with the reality many Malawians are experiencing, and this disconnect, he believes, is fostering widespread disillusionment among citizens.
He criticized the government for failing to fulfill key promises made during the previous elections, which he feels has contributed to the growing frustration in the population.
Muluzi also expressed disappointment with the government’s lack of concrete plans to address the country’s most pressing issues, such as poverty, unemployment, and economic instability.
He pointed out that despite the government’s repeated proclamations, the average Malawian continues to struggle to make ends meet.
Throughout the interview, Muluzi emphasized the need for greater transparency and accountability in leadership, arguing that the current administration has fallen short in these areas.
He called on the President to take responsibility for the promises made and, more importantly, to offer real solutions to the challenges facing the nation.
Muluzi also suggested that the political landscape in Malawi is in need of significant change, expressing his readiness to play a role in creating a future that is more responsive to the needs of the people.
His remarks have sparked varied reactions across the political spectrum, with some agreeing with his assessment, while others have criticized him for being overly critical of the current government.
Regardless of the differing opinions, Muluzi’s interview has catapulted him back into the spotlight, reigniting discussions about the future direction of leadership in Malawi.
