Atupele Muluzi Vows Economic Revival, Blasts Rivals on Whistle-Stop Tour

United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi has pledged to restore Malawi’s struggling economy through bold reforms aimed at supporting businesses, stabilizing the currency, and ensuring food security if elected in the September 16 General Elections.

Speaking during a whistle-stop tour in Blantyre, Muluzi told enthusiastic crowds that a UDF-led government would prioritize small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by improving access to capital and introducing business-friendly policies designed to stimulate job creation.

“We will work day and night to bring back the purchasing power of the kwacha, stabilize prices of basic goods, and create an environment where jobs can flourish,” he said.

Muluzi, who has intensified his campaign across the southern region, also criticized rival political parties, questioning their leadership capabilities and readiness for government.

“UDF ndi chipani chimene chili ndi mtsogoleri amene akuyenda opanda belo nthumba,” he declared, a vernacular phrase implying that he leads with transparency and without hidden agendas.

The UDF leader’s message focused on hope, economic renewal, and responsible leadership — themes that continue to define his campaign as the country edges closer to the highly anticipated polls.
