
Arafat KB Nkata Withdraws from MAM Chairmanship Race, Endorses Sheikh Omar Nkachelenga

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Nkata said the decision followed extensive consultations with Islamic scholars, community elders, family members, and friends. According to Nkata, their discussions focused on the reforms needed within MAM and ways to strengthen the association’s governance and service to the Muslim community.
He said he believes Sheikh Nkachelenga shares similar aspirations for promoting unity, improving institutional governance, implementing reforms, and enhancing the welfare of Muslim scholars and communities.

The Muslim Association of Malawi is expected to hold its leadership elections on July 26, 2026, at COMESA Hall in Blantyre, where delegates will elect a new leadership to guide the association over the next term.
