Truck Crashes Into MRA Fence at Mwanza One Stop Border Post, Driver Seriously Injured

A truck has crashed into the perimeter fence of the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) offices at the One Stop Border Post in Mwanza border, leaving the driver with serious injuries and causing significant damage to the vehicle.

Police in Mwanza have identified the driver as Basilo Cardiso, a Mozambican national, who was operating the truck at the time of the accident.

According to Mwanza Police spokesperson Hope Kasakula, the incident occurred as the truck was approaching the border post from the Zobue road. Kasakula said the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle, leading to the crash into the MRA fence.

“The driver, who works for C/O Horecean Company based in Tete, Mozambique, lost control of the truck while entering the border premises,” said Kasakula.

She added that Cardiso sustained serious injuries in the दुर्घ and was rushed for medical attention. Meanwhile, the front section of the truck was extensively damaged due to the impact.
