Mary Navicha, a senior leader in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), praised women for their significant role in society during a whistle-stop campaign in Nsanje on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
She expressed gratitude that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has chosen a female running mate, Dr. Jane Ansah.
Navicha highlighted that women have been the most affected by hunger, poverty, and the rising cost of living under President Chakwera’s administration.
She stated that with the DPP ticket including Dr. Ansah, starting from 16 September, women’s challenges will be addressed and alleviated.
Concluding Analysis
Mary Navicha’s remarks underscore the DPP’s strategic emphasis on gender representation and empowerment in its campaign.
By pairing Mutharika with Dr. Ansah, the party seeks to appeal directly to women voters, highlighting socio-economic issues that disproportionately affect them.
This move positions the DPP to present a platform that emphasizes responsive leadership, targeted solutions for women’s hardships, and a promise to tackle pressing economic challenges ahead of the upcoming elections.
