A Nigerian military aircraft carrying 32 people has crashed in southern Nigeria while travelling to Lagos, triggering an emergency search-and-rescue operation.
The Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 was carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members when it crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State while en route to Lagos.
Authorities moved quickly to launch a search-and-rescue operation following reports of the crash. The aircraft wreckage has reportedly been located at the crash site.
However, officials have not yet confirmed the number of casualties or whether there are survivors.
Emergency teams and relevant authorities are expected to assess the scene and establish what happened to the aircraft and those on board.
The incident has raised concerns over aviation safety as authorities work to secure the crash site and account for all 32 people who were travelling on the Nigerian Air Force aircraft.
Further details, including the condition of passengers and crew members and the possible cause of the crash, are expected as the rescue operation continues.
Malawi Freedom Network will provide updates as more official information becomes available.
