The Malawi Freedom Fighters (MFF) has expressed its deep concern with what the United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has displayed during this period where Malawians are anxiously waiting for the announcement of results for the just ended 16th September, 2025 general elections.

Muluzi organized a press briefing in Lilongwe on Saturday saying the UDF has petitioned the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) to look into serious electoral irregularities as observed in Blantyre, Machinga, Mangochi, and Zomba on the claims that the results are not matching.

He demanded Mec to order for recounting of votes for the will of the voters to be respected saying the party’s lawyers are ready to go to court should there be need to do so saying he has already launched UDF complaint to Mec by providing all the necessary evidence required.

In a response letter to the will of Atupele Muluzi to go to court, the Malawi Freedom Fighters (MFF) has objected the behavior and ask Muluzi not to go to court to lodge the complaint against the results of Eastern Region.

The letter which has been signed by Southern Region Chairperson Green Malangi, Chair Mangochi Aliyu James, Chair Machinga Abudu Kachemwe, and Chair Balaka Allan Aden, the MFF says they strongly believe that if there’s any queries, it is not the right time to go to court because the final results are not yet announced.

“We do respect our President and we honor him and this statement is not to undermine him, but to allow Mec do their job till they finish to announce the results, all Malawians should follow the proceedings till the end,” reads the letter in part.

A UDF District Governor in Lilongwe speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, has asked Atupele Muluzi to go to court by himself not hiding through the UDF name claiming that all UDF members and supporters are all aware that he is an MCP agent.

The Governor said UDF members and supporters in the Eastern Region campaigned on door to door strategy not to vote for Atupele Muluzi on the claims that voting for Atupele Muluizi is voting for the MCP and President Chakwera to bounce back into government.
He has thanked all UDF members and supporters in the Eastern Region for taking heed of the message saying even Atupele Muluzi for the first time in the history of elections he has seen for himself that Eastern Region has rejected him.

“If he wants to go to court, he is free to do so as a person not UDF going to court, Eastern Region voted for UDF MPs and Councilors and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as President of the country,” said the Governor.

He has warned Atupele Muluzi that if he continues with his plans of working with the MCP, the UDF will die and be torn into pieces as curtains on the wall and many UDF members and supporters will cry to Dr. Bakili Muluzi for letting the party die under the watch of his son, Atupele.
