Lilongwe, Malawi – 1 October 2025: Malawi’s President-Elect, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, has issued a strong warning that any illegal or irregular decisions made during the current transition period will be nullified once he takes office.President Peter Mutharika Warns Against Corruption in Government Contracts
In a statement released on 30th September 2025, signed by his spokesperson Shadric Namalomba, Mutharika expressed concern over reports of some government officials allegedly engaging in corrupt practices. He said such conduct undermines patriotism, accountability, and public trust, while also breaching the law.
“Any illegal or irregular decisions made during this transition will be declared void. Those involved in corruption will face the full force of the law,” the statement stressed.
The President-Elect assured Malawians that his administration will prioritize transparency, rule of law, and zero tolerance to corruption, warning that public officers who misuse state resources or take advantage of the transition will not be spared.

As the nation looks forward to Mutharika’s official inauguration on 4th October 2025, his declaration signals a tougher stance on governance and corruption.
