A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has joined Comrade Alhaji Imraan Jumbe pleading with the DPP led government to speed up the Chikangawa plane crash investigations, and releasing a comprehensive credible and independent report.

Writing on his face book page, Comrade Jumbe said the prolonged silence surrounding the Chikangawa plane crash, has become a growing wound in the conscience of the country advising the DPP government not to dump it into the dustbin of forgotten national tragedies.

Comrade Jumbe said the DPP is a government that came into power riding on the pain and sympathy of the people saying the party has a moral obligation to honor that pain with transparency and action reminding the DPP that Malawians deserve answers and they are tired of waiting.

He said Malawians are demanding clarity, and accountability respecting the lives lost and the families left behind expressing fears that delaying the Chikangawa plane crash investigation, is sending the wrong message.

The activist has called on the DPP to tell Malawians the full truth about what happened, who caused the plane crash, what went wrong, and why the then President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was giving contradicting statements?

“The fear of truth, Malawi does not become a country where high- profile deaths fade quietly without closure simply because time has passed,” said Comrade Jumbe.

On his part, Kamphangala has asked President Professor Mutharika to address Malawians on the matter surrounding the tragic death of Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest on the 10th June, 2024.

Kamphangala has assured Professor Mutharika that Malawians were expecting that by today, people who took part in the tragic murder of Dr. Chilima are being arrested by police and that some individuals are serving prison sentences,

He said Malawians are now questioning the DPP that using the tragic death of Dr. Chilima, was this a campaign strategy to win the peoples’ hearts or what exactly is it that Malawians are waiting for observing that the DPP government is seeming to be not ready to institute a commission of investigations.

The activist has again advised President Professor Mutharika that on the day he will institute a commission of investigations for the Chikangawa plane crash, he should be reminded of genuine activists and journalists for Malawians to trust the content of the report.

“Hon. Kamlepo Kalua, Dr. Samuel Lwara, Bon Kalindo, Lytone Mangochi, Bishop Kachenje, Pastor Moses Shumba and journalists such as Burnett Munthali, Suleman Chitera and Jones Gadama, are the must be appointed into the committee by patriotic Malawians for the truth to prevail in the interest of all Malawians.
