Vice President Dr. Jane Mayemu Ansah, SC, JA (Retired), is today leading the nation in commemorating the life and legacy of Malawi’s former Vice President, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, during the official memorial service and unveiling of a mausoleum erected in his honour at his final resting place in Nsipe, Ntcheu.
The solemn event begins with a memorial mass at Nsipe Catholic Grounds from 9:00 a.m., which will be presided over by Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. Following the mass, dignitaries and mourners will proceed to the unveiling of the mausoleum, a lasting tribute to one of Malawi’s most influential political leaders.BMTV advises Jane Ansah to work with Mutharika
The occasion has attracted an array of high-profile guests, reflecting the enduring impact Dr. Chilima had on the nation. Among those expected to attend are Second Vice President Enock Chihana, former President Joyce Banda, former Vice Presidents Cassim Chilumpha, Khumbo Kachali and Michael Usi, Chief Justice Rezine Mzikamanda, Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleman, Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament and members of the diplomatic corps.
Families of the eight individuals who lost their lives alongside Dr. Chilima in the tragic plane crash have also been invited to participate in the memorial activities.Jane Ansah to Lead National Development Showcase at Parliament
Dr. Chilima died on June 10, 2024, together with eight others when a military aircraft carrying them crashed at Thungwa in Chikangawa Forest. The delegation was travelling to Nkhata Bay to attend the funeral of renowned lawyer Ralph Kasambara.
The unveiling of the mausoleum marks another significant chapter in preserving the memory of Dr. Chilima, whose leadership, public service and vision for Malawi continue to inspire many across the country.
