Nacala Logistics in partnership with Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL) and Total Malawi, today 15 June 2022 launched the resumption of fuel transportation on cargo trains from the port of Nacala to Malawi. According to officials says this is signifies the recommencement of a low cost means of transporting fuel into the country.
Making his remarks at the launch event which was held at the Total Malawi Limbe Depot, PIL General Manager, Martin Msimuko reiterated the importance of rail transportation, citing a reduction in product costs on the market, resulting from transporting goods through rail.
The transportation process had been halted for several months following the damage to the railway section between Balaka and Limbe due to the impact of Cyclone Ana.
