2021-2022 AIP Programme Is a Waste Of Resources

The Parliamentary committee on Agriculture has described this year’s Affordable Input Programme-AIP as a waste of resources.

Sameer Suleman Chairperson of the Committee said this after meeting officials from ministry of Agriculture.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Suleman said corruption has marred this year’s Programme and most resources were used on logistics than the fertilizer itself.

He said, government also politicized the programme, a thing that has led to it’s failure.

According to Suleman, government should not procure more fertilizer instead channel the resources towards procurement of Maize to assist people when hunger strikes.

Meanwhile, Geoffrey Mamba , Principal Secretary responsible for irrigation in the Ministry of Agriculture has announced suspension of AIP fertilizer redemption.
