Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Tour Mchinji District

Blantyre football heavyweights Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC are expected to tour Mchinji district to be precise Kapiri where they will play a friendly match against Mkanda Youth a Chipiku Premier division side at Aubrey Dimba ground on Saturday.

Interestingly former Malawi football national team players Elvis Kafoteka and Joseph Shakira Kamwendo will face off but this time not as players but head and vice coaches respectively.

People of Mchinji will be privileged to see some notable players whom they just hear names on the radios,like Vitumbiko Kumwenda,Francis Mulimbika,Wisdom Mpinganjira, Richard Chipuwa,Misheck Botoman among others playing at Dimba ground.

Joseph Kamwendo, Wanderers Deputy Coach, said this match will give them an opportunity to assess other players who had limited game time in the first round of the TNM Superleague. He added after evaluation on first round performance they are not convinced and their team need more works to be done to do extremely better in the second round which will be coming after a two week break hence taking these friendlies seriously. Kamwendo added the friendlies will help them to maintain the boys fitness.

“Let me thank Aubrey Dimba for inviting us,this is great move as I will be able to interact with people from my home area Mchinji and they have a chance to see big names playing, we will give them good game”, Kamwendo said.

Elvis Kafoteka, Mkanda Youth Coach, described the game as important saying playing big team like Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC will give platform to his boys at the same time gaining courage.Kafoteka added the players will be motivated playing against a well established team like the Nomads.

” We are equally ready for them,we will give a grand fight, it is an opportunity to me as coach to learn few things from them which will help us do better in Chipiku Premier Division “,.Kafoteka narrated.

Aubrey Dimba who has organized this friendly match as one way of fundraising to complete his ground and to drill a well which will help in watering the pitch said preparations for the game is over and just waiting for the day,he has since urged people to come in large numbers on Saturday.
