Police in Mzimba are keeping in custody two form four students from Mzimba Open Distance Learning Secondary School for being found with the Malawi School Certificate of Education Examination paper without authority, contrary to section 14 of the MANEB Act.
Confirming the development to MBC Online, Mzimba Police Public Relations Officer, Peter Botha, said they received a tip-off from MANEB’s Principal Examinations Development Officer, Emmanuel Chafutwa, who is working in the district that some Form 4 candidates from Mzimba Open Secondary School were sharing this year’s MANEB Practical Confidential Instruction Paper through social media.
The two have been identified as Dominic Ngala and Vincent Sakala, both 19.
According to Botha, it is reported that the two formed a WhatsApp Group, where they were sharing the said paper.
Dominic Ngala comes from Mankhambila Village in Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in Rumphi, while Vincent Sakala comes from Zikhole Sakala Village in the area of Traditional Authority M’mbelwa in Mzimba District.
The two will appear before court soon.
When contacted to comment on the matter, MANEB’s Spokesperson, Mayamiko Chiwaya, said as a board they haven’t yet received the report and asked for more time before commenting on the matter.
