Critics are hailing President Lazarus Chakwera’s action on issues arising from a Commission of Inquiry report on matters surrounding the arrest last month of Anti-Corruption Bureau – ACB director general, Martha Chizuma.
In a 25-minute address to the nation this morning, Chakwera has snubbed the commission’s recommendation to fire Chizuma and has instead sacked Director of Public Prosecutions, Steven Kayuni.

But announcing his decisions on the matter, Chakwera expressed disappointment with Kayuni for instigating the arrest through a complaint which, in the President’s view, displayed unsound judgement by the DPP.
And while stressing that he has no intention to block anyone from seeking appropriate legal redress, a visibly emotional Chakwera reiterated his support for Chizuma whom he described as his champion against graft.
