Northern Region Water Board has moved to reconnect 287 disconnected communal water points in its supply areas as part of its response to the fight against cholera, Chairperson of the Board, Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo has disclosed.

Mwenifumbo explained that the move will also see the Board reconnect 13 schools with potable water supply.
The kiosks and schools were disconnected due to outstanding bill payments of over MK24 million.
“As a water service provider, we join Government efforts in combating this disease by ensuring that all our customers have access to safe drinking water.

“And in ensuring that no one is left behind, we commit to provide potable water services to health centers in hot spot areas outside our supply zones.”
According to Mwenifumbo, the Board will closely work with the affected communities on the modalities and implementation of this initiative.
