The Malawi government has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that certain individuals have been appointed as ambassadors to represent the country in foreign nations.
Government spokesperson and Minister of Information, Shadric Namalomba, has clarified that no official appointments have been made to the diplomatic positions currently circulating on social media Namalomba claims Malawi’s economy is a maize economy
The clarification follows growing speculation on social media platforms where names of alleged appointees to Malawi’s foreign missions have been widely shared. Reports suggested that government had selected ambassadors and other officials to serve in various diplomatic offices abroad.

However, Namalomba dismissed the claims, insisting that government communication regarding such appointments only comes through official channels.
“Government communicates through my office and not through social media pages. There is no truth in what you are hearing,” Namalomba said.

The government’s response aims to stop misinformation and reassure the public that any official diplomatic appointments will be announced through proper government communication channels.
