Two men behind bars for stealing five goats valued at K500 thousand on 20 August 2024 at Chitipi in Lilongwe.
Lilongwe Police Station Assistant Public Relations Officer Constable Khumbo Sanyiwa confirmed the development saying; police have recovered all the stolen five goats.
He said the suspects have been identified as Samuel James, 34, and Ashani Agabu, 16.
Sanyiwa added that on the said date at around 17:00 hours, Chitipi Police detectives received information that three people at a certain grazing dambo were in possession of boer goats suspected to have been stolen. Upon investigations, police managed to arrest the suspects, but one escaped the scene.
He said that James, who is a habitual criminal, goes around in various villages where he entices head boys to sell him goats or cattle without the knowledge of its owners. Sanyiwa further said he later sells them to butcher men in town.
Meanwhile, police are still hunting for the other suspect who is currently on the run.
The suspects will appear in court soon to answer theft charges.
Samuel James hails from Likoswe Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Nsabwe,Thyolo, and Ashani Agabu comes from Mpombe Village, T/A Malili in Lilongwe District.
