DPP to ADDRESS Malawians on Thursday, October 10, 2024

By Burnett Munthali

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has announced an important public address scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 14:00 hours at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe. The announcement was made through the party’s official Facebook page, under the hashtag #MCPitamanga, hinting at a possible critique of the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

In the post, the DPP encouraged all Malawians to tune in and attend, signaling that the address will cover pressing national issues, which are yet to be disclosed. The event is expected to be attended by party officials, supporters, and possibly members of the media.

This announcement comes amid rising political tensions and widespread public discontent over economic and governance issues in the country. Political observers believe the DPP could use this platform to articulate its position on the current state of affairs and present an alternative vision for Malawi as the country approaches the 2025 elections.

The hashtag #MCPitamanga, meaning “MCP has failed,” strongly suggests that the DPP may focus on criticizing the performance of the current government under President Lazarus Chakwera’s MCP-led administration. With economic challenges and governance issues being hot topics, this address will likely draw significant public attention.

Malawians across the country will be watching closely for what the DPP leadership has to say, as the political landscape continues to evolve in the lead-up to the next general elections.
