Chitoliro Productionz, the organizers of the highly anticipated Urban Music People (UMP) Festival, are currently conducting a two-day site interaction to familiarize the media and partners with the upcoming event. Scheduled to take place from October 25 to 28, the festival will be held at six different sites, including the beautiful Cape Maclear in Mangochi.
One of the festival’s key organizers, Prince Chokotho, emphasized the importance of this orientation, noting that there are several critical updates that the festival partners need to be aware of before the event dates. “It is a different type of festival. We have a number of community engagement activities aimed at making the host community part of this event. We want this to be known to the public,” Chokotho stated.
The UMP Festival promises to offer a vibrant mix of music and culture, and as part of the festival package, there will be a community-free bash at the Matafale Tribute Stage. This initiative is designed to celebrate local talent and create a festive atmosphere for both festival-goers and community members.
Chokotho further elaborated on the festival’s vision, highlighting the goal of fostering community involvement and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Malawi. By engaging local residents in various activities, the festival aims to create a sense of ownership and pride within the community.
As the date approaches, excitement is building around the UMP Festival, which is expected to attract music lovers from across the country and beyond. With a focus on inclusivity and local engagement, the festival promises to be a memorable celebration of urban music and cultural expression.
