The United Democratic Front (UDF) has announced that it will soon inform Malawians about its future regarding political alliances. This will be after the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meets to deliberate on the matter.
UDF’s Secretary General, Genelino Lemani, told MIJ Online that party leaders will hold a meeting in the near future to review the party’s direction.
Lemani also reassured UDF supporters that no decisions have been made so far regarding alliances with other political parties, emphasizing that all developments will be made public once the NEC convenes.
The UDF was notably absent from a press conference held by opposition parties, including the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), UTM, and the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD), in Lilongwe. This absence has led to speculation that the UDF may have different plans for future alliances as the country heads towards the 2025 elections.
