The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has announced an extension to the nomination period for the 2024 Entertainer of the Year Awards. The decision follows technical challenges faced during the first two days of the nomination process.
Chisomo Mwamadi, the organizing chairperson for the awards, explained that the initial nomination deadline, set for Friday, had to be extended to ensure that all interested individuals had the opportunity to participate.
“Initially, we were supposed to close the nominations on Friday, but we had challenges with our system during the first two days. We want to give Malawians ample time to nominate their favourite entertainers,” Mwamadi said.
With the extension, nominations will now close on November 18, giving more time for the public to submit their votes. Following the nomination phase, voting will begin on November 25, and the grand awards night will take place on December 14 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
The Entertainer of the Year Awards recognize and celebrate the exceptional talent and contributions of Malawian entertainers in various sectors, including music, television, film, and other creative industries. The event is expected to attract a significant audience, as it continues to shine a spotlight on the country’s dynamic entertainment industry.
