Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola addressed the nation, acknowledging the frustration and difficulties caused by the current fuel supply challenges.
In a statement from the ministry that Malawi Freedom Network has seen, the situation has disrupted daily life, affecting parents, businesses, and industries alike.
“The fuel shortage has crippled Malawi’s economy, with ambulances and essential services struggling to operate due to fuel scarcity,” reads part of the statement.

Matola assured citizens that his team is working tirelessly to resolve the issue, citing intensive engagements with stakeholders and positive results toward stabilizing the fuel supply.
But Civil Rights Activist, Silvester Namiwa urged Malawians to join demonstrations against the crisis.
Namiwa expressed shame over the fuel situation and its severe impact on the nation.
