The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) has announced that it is bringing 19.2 million liters of fuel into the country, offering hope for an improved fuel supply in the coming days. According to NOCMA, the additional fuel will help ease the ongoing fuel shortages that have been affecting Malawi.
NOCMA spokesperson Raymond Likambale confirmed that, as of Friday, 6.6 million liters of fuel were already in transit to Malawi, with another 12.6 million liters being loaded onto trucks and wagons. This significant supply is expected to bolster the country’s fuel stock, providing much-needed relief for consumers.
Malawi consumes around 845,000 liters of petrol and 834,000 liters of diesel daily. This means that the 19.2 million liters, if they arrive as planned, will cover about 11 and a half days of the country’s fuel needs, which is a positive development for both businesses and individuals reliant on consistent fuel availability.
Likambale reassured the public that NOCMA is closely monitoring the delivery process and is committed to ensuring the timely arrival of the fuel. The company has been working with various partners to expedite the process, understanding the urgency of stabilizing the fuel supply to prevent any further disruptions.
This move is expected to have a positive impact on the economy, as fuel shortages have led to disruptions in transportation and trade, affecting businesses and individuals across Malawi. With the fuel supply anticipated to improve in the coming days, there is hope that the country will soon experience relief from the ongoing fuel crisis.
NOCMA’s proactive efforts to replenish fuel stocks reflect a commitment to ensuring a steady supply and promoting economic stability in the country. The public is encouraged to remain patient as the fuel supply situation is expected to stabilize with the arrival of the new shipments.
