Former President of Malawi and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader, Professor Peter Mutharika, has called on residents of Nsanje to register for the upcoming elections. Mutharika made this appeal during a rally held at Nsanje Boma, where he criticized the leadership of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) under President Lazarus Chakwera.
Mutharika expressed concern over the hardships Malawians are facing, attributing them to the MCP-led government.
“I urge you to register so that this oppressive government can be removed,” said Mutharika, emphasizing the importance of voter registration as a means to bring change through democratic processes.

He encouraged the people of Nsanje to prepare to vote for the DPP, assuring them that his administration would resume and complete the development projects that were left unfinished after 2019.
Currently, Mutharika is scheduled to hold additional rallies in Bangula, Nchalo, and Dyeratu in Chikwawa District. These meetings aim to further mobilize support and encourage voter registration as part of the DPP’s efforts to reclaim power in the upcoming elections.
The DPP leader reiterated his party’s commitment to development, highlighting the importance of roads, water supply, and electricity projects to improve the lives of Malawians, particularly in the Lower Shire region.
