Former President and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader, Peter Mutharika, today took his campaign trail to the Eastern Region, urging citizens to register for the upcoming elections. Mutharika emphasized the importance of voter registration, calling it a vital step in securing a better future for Malawi.
Speaking to large crowds gathered at various stops, Mutharika encouraged people to take an active role in shaping the nation’s destiny. “This is your chance to bring change. Register to vote so that your voice can be heard in the next election,” he said.
The DPP leader stressed that a high voter turnout is crucial for the party’s success, adding that his leadership remains committed to addressing the challenges Malawians face, including unemployment, poor infrastructure, and a struggling economy.
Targeting the Eastern Region
The Eastern Region has long been a stronghold for the DPP, and Mutharika’s visit aims to consolidate this support. His meetings have drawn significant crowds, reflecting the party’s deep roots in the area.
In his address, Mutharika also assured his supporters that the DPP is ready to reclaim power and deliver meaningful development projects that have stalled under the current administration.
Mutharika was joined by senior DPP officials who echoed his call for unity and action. They encouraged local leaders to mobilize their communities, ensuring that everyone eligible is registered to vote.
“This is a movement for change, and it begins with registration,” said one party official. “Let us work together to bring back the development and stability that Malawians deserve.”
As the campaign continues, Mutharika’s message of hope and action is resonating with many in the Eastern Region. His focus on voter registration is not only a call to support the DPP but also a reminder of the power Malawians hold in shaping their country’s future.
