Flames left-back, Alick Lungu is not training with his Club, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after the Head Coach, Peter Mponda tells him to sort out his contract issues with the Club, reports Times Sports.

Lungu has six-month left in his contract with Bullets and he is reportedly refusing to sign another contract with the team and he has since requested to be released for free.

Bullets Acting Chief Executive Officer, Albert Chigoga said they expected the left fullback to see out his contract or else potential suitors have to activate his release clause, hence his move has been blocked.

“Alick has been refusing to sign a new contract since last year,” Chigoga tells Times Sports. “When the head coach [Peter Mponda] advised him to sort out his contract issue with the club, he took advantage [of that] to request for an early release”

Bullets have asked Lungu to activate his release clause which was injected into his contract if he wants to leave.

“Since it is him who wants to terminate his contract, we would like him to do what his contract says about his decision,” Chigoga said

The Flames fullback spent the better part of last season on the sidelines due to an injury, forcing Bullets to reportedly spend about K15 million on his hospital bills. Lungu sustained the injury in 2023 while on national team duty.
