Two suspects apprehended for attempted break-In at Malawi president’s residence

Two young offenders were caught in the early hours of Sunday morning attempting to break into the residence of Malawi’s President, Lazarus Chakwera, in Lilongwe.

The suspects, identified as Leman and Kadzakumanja, both in their 20s and 30s, respectively, hail from Ntchisi district.

According to eyewitnesses, the duo was found in possession of a 13mm pistol and dozens of rounds of ammunition.

It is alleged that they intended to use these weapons to gain access to the President’s residence, with the ultimate goal of stealing and they used a Toyota Landcruiser 1.10 vehicle.

The police have confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and are facing charges related to attempted burglary and possession of illegal firearms.

The authorities have commended the swift response of the security personnel stationed at the President’s residence, which prevented the suspects from carrying out their nefarious plans.

The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the nation, with many Malawians expressing concern over the brazen nature of the attempted break-in.

The President’s residence is considered one of the most secure locations in the country, and the fact that the suspects were able to gain access to the premises has raised questions about the effectiveness of the security measures in place.

As the investigation into the incident continues, the police have urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
