Head of Investigations at the ACB, Christopher Kaminjolo, says Luhanga has been arrested, and not just summoned.
He says Luhanga is reasonably suspected of having committed the offence of Abuse of office contrary to section 25 B (1) as read together with Section 25 b (4) and 34 of the Corrupt Practices Act.
“Richard Luhanga while serving as public officer being the Commissioner of Malawi Police Service in or around 2022/2023 in the city of Mzuzu in the Republic of Malawi, abused his office for his personal advantage by arbitrarily directing that paint donated by Press Trust Limited meant for Mzuzu Police Hospital at the Northern region Police Headquarters be used at his properties located at Nkhozo Estate in Bolero.
“Richard Luhanga is being recorded a Caution Statement and later be taken to court,” says Kaminjolo.
