United Democratic Front (UDF) leader Atupele Muluzi has firmly denied growing speculation that he is planning to align with the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ahead of the highly anticipated September 16 elections.
Addressing his supporters during a rally in Blantyre, Muluzi described the rumors as baseless and politically motivated lies aimed at misleading the public. He cautioned Malawians to remain vigilant and avoid falling for misinformation that could jeopardize their future.
“Let us be clear—there is no alliance between UDF and MCP. These rumors are simply meant to confuse voters and derail our mission of offering Malawians a better alternative,” said Muluzi.
He further warned that believing such fabrications could result in another five years of hardship and stagnation for the country.
Muluzi emphasized UDF’s commitment to contesting independently and presenting a credible vision for national development, adding that the party remains focused on addressing economic challenges, creating jobs, and restoring trust in leadership.
Political analysts view this as a strategic move by Muluzi to assert his party’s autonomy and strengthen its grassroots appeal as the election date draws nearer.
The UDF leader is expected to intensify his campaign trail in the coming weeks, with rallies planned across key regions of the country.
