As our country stares into the horizon of another election, the hearts of millions beat not with excitement, but with weary anticipation.
The people are tired—tired of promises without delivery, tired of poverty without relief, and tired of watching opposition leaders, who should be their hope, become their biggest disappointment.
Tell us, leaders of the opposition—do you truly believe you can win these elections by going it alone?
Do you honestly believe, in your silos of pride and inflated self-importance, that you will dismantle the stronghold of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP)—a party that came to power not by strength alone, but by strategic alliance?
“When two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.”
Today, it is neither MCP nor opposition you opposition suffering in this battle it is us the poor Malawians who are victims and suffers most.
We should remember that MCP returned to power in 2020 not by magic nor miracle, but because of unity.
At that time, Malawians believed in a new dawn, convinced that the alliance was forged for the good of the nation.
We were wrong—but we believed because the symbol of unity gave us hope alas we anticipated pie in the sky.
Now, the Democratics progressive party and other opposition parties has been given a second chance—a chance to right the wrongs, a chance to come together, to liberate the people from this hardship we continue to endure. And yet what do we see?
Arrogance. Greed. Power struggles. Pomposity.
Each opposition leader believes himself greater than the other. Each one wants to lead, but few are ready to follow. And so, “The canoe that refuses to be paddled by many, sinks under the pride of one.”
Your disunity is not just political—it is tragic. It is betrayal. It is selfishness disguised as leadership.
“A single broomstick cannot sweep the yard.” No matter how strong you believe your party is, you will not clean the mess of this nation without others. Divided, you are predictable, beatable, and forgettable. Together, you could become a storm that sweeps away injustice.
The campaign period has officially begun, yet there is no sign, not even a whisper, of a grand coalition among you what went wrong with you And you still expect the people to trust you with power?
“ You are showing the nation your worst side before being entrusted with power.
If you cannot humble yourselves for the sake of the people now, what will you do once the reins of power are in your hands? Dpp why can’t you change and repent for the sake of heavenly?
Let me remind you:
“Even the strongest hunter cannot kill a lion alone.” And MCP is no small lion—it is well-rooted, well-resourced, and well-connected.
If you are to defeat it, you must become something bigger than yourselves.
You must form a unity not based on positions, interests of yourselves or posters, but on a shared dream for the nation.
Opposition leaders, your time is now—but only if you rise together.
Let go of personal ambitions. Let go of your pride. Embrace the power of collective vision.
Forge the alliance that Malawians are praying for. Because “If the lizard of the homestead fails to do the things for which its kind is known, it will be mistaken for a worm.”
Do not go down in history as the ones who failed this country because you could not humble yourselves.
Go down as the leaders who rose above ego and offered Malawians a true chance at change.
The battle is not about you. It is about our mother Malawi.
Rise together—or fall apart alone.
