LILONGWE — The presidential candidate for the People’s Party (PP), Dr. Joyce Banda, is this morning expected to officially launch her party’s election manifesto, a critical move in her bid to reclaim the presidency in the highly anticipated September elections.

The event, taking place in Lilongwe, is set to draw party loyalists, political observers, and members of the Mafunde Party, who have confirmed their attendance in a show of solidarity with Banda’s political agenda.

According to party insiders, Banda’s manifesto will focus on rebuilding the economy, restoring governance integrity, and promoting inclusive development. The former President is also expected to reignite hope among her followers by addressing key national concerns, including job creation, youth empowerment, and access to quality health and education services.

“This is a defining moment for the People’s Party and for Malawi as a nation,” said a senior PP official. “Dr. Banda’s leadership experience and her proven track record will resonate with voters who are yearning for genuine change.”

Banda, who served as Malawi’s President from 2012 to 2014, has remained active in national affairs and continues to command a loyal support base, especially among women and rural communities.

Political analysts believe the manifesto launch will set the tone for a competitive electoral race as political parties ramp up campaign activities.

As the countdown to the September polls intensifies, Banda’s re-entry into the presidential race is expected to reshape alliances and influence voter dynamics across the country.
