In a bold and ambitious declaration, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) aspiring candidate for Mangochi-Nkungulu, Isaac Ramsey Khan, has promised to spark a rural revolution—transforming the lakeside constituency into a vibrant urban center.

Speaking to cheering supporters at Chimwala Primary School after submitting his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), Khan laid out a development blueprint anchored in healthcare, agriculture, and fishing—sectors he says are the lifeblood of the community.
“It’s high time Mangochi-Nkungulu moved from a rural setup to an urban standard,” said Khan, to loud applause. “Our people deserve hospitals that work, farms that produce, and a fishing industry that thrives.”
He spotlighted Lake Malombe, a vital yet overlooked asset, lamenting how communities nearby remain food-insecure despite access to water.

“We cannot afford to watch the lake go to waste while our people go to bed hungry,” Khan said passionately. “Irrigation schemes will be my top priority to boost both food and income.”
Khan also pledged to introduce modern farming technologies and fish value-addition hubs, aiming to create jobs and reduce poverty in one of Malawi’s most underserved areas.
With a groundswell of support behind him, Khan enters the race as a serious contender—vowing not just to win an election, but to change the future of Mangochi-Nkungulu.
As the countdown to September continues, the question remains: Can Khan turn vision into victory—and rural into urban?
