Malawi’s future in good hands with Atupele Muluzi, supporters claim

The Friends of Atupele Muluzi group says is thrilled about the United Democratic Front (UDF) president’s decision to run for presidency in the September 16, 2025 general elections.

National Coordinator for the grouping, Willard Likwambe Msosa said in an interview Atupele Muluzi’s clean record and leadership experience make him the ideal candidate to transform Malawi.

“We have been advocating for Atupele Muluzi’s presidential candidature, and we are delighted he has taken this step. He is the only hope for Malawi, and we urge Malawians who wish this country well to give him a chance to lead,” said Msosa.

He said the group plans to campaign tirelessly for Muluzi, reaching every corner of Malawi to drum up support.

Msosa said his group has welcomed Muluzi’s picking of Rex Kalolo as his running mate.

“It is a right choice. He is well educated with clean record like our president. This is a good pairing,” he said.

Muluzi presented his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on Saturday and unveiled
Kalolo as his running mate.

After presenting the nomination papers, Muluzi launched the party’s manifesto and campaign at Masintha Ground in Lilongwe.
