There are growing accusations that members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) are deeply involved in the movement of these assets. Eyewitnesses claim MCP operatives are using their political influence to cross borders unchecked, while some security officers allegedly turn a blind eye.

Instead of protecting government property, some officers are being accused of actively facilitating the distribution and smuggling of these resources.
