Karonga based rights activist Comrade Lytone Mangochi, has expressed his disappointment over the way some court Judges are discharging their duties urging the new government of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to bring in new reforms in the Judiciary.

Mangochi said High Court Judge Mzondi Mvula was all set to deliver his ruling on Richard Chimwendo Banda’s bail application but another High Court Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda who take himself as senior to Judge Mvula released Chimwendo Banda unconditionally.

He said in the Malawi Prisons, there are some inmates who have served on remand for 3 to 4 years but they are not taken to court because they are poor and no one is listening to them, they are rotting in prison and they have no hope that one day they will walk to freedom.

Speaking through a video clip, Mangochi has appealed to the HRDC, HRCC and Public Affairs Committee (PAC) that if indeed they are standing for the voiceless citizens, there is great need to speak out and not only backing Chimwendo Banda’s release that he is being protected by the court order.

Mangochi said he gives much respect to High Court Judge Chimbizgani Kacheche for bailing out Malawians from the slavery of the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who did everything possible to rig the 16th September, 2025 presidential elections.

He has warned the DPP to open their eyes saying if the Judiciary is left unchecked as it is today, they will be crying and will not win any case against MCP individuals who are using money they stole from government coffers to corrupt some court judges who are also corrupt.

“I am urging the DPP not to laugh at MCP activities, they stole trillions of Kwachas and they are using that to buy justice for their arrested members to be granted court bail,” said Mangochi.

He said High Court Judge Kenyatta Myirenda’s judicial review turn judgement for Chimwendo Banda to be granted bail must be a wake-up call to the DPP government to side with Lawyer Alexious Kamangirah that Malawi courts are rotten with corruption.

The activist has called on government to use its powers vested in it that the dubious court order protecting Chimwendo Banda from further arrests must be challenged in as soon as yesterday, Chimwendo Banda must be re- arrested to wait for Judge Mzondi Mvula’s bail ruling application on the 20th January, 2026.

He has made a special appeal to Minister of Finance Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha to make sure that the local currency particularly the K5000 has new special features to block the K5000 banknote in circulation which the MCP is boasting to be using in corrupting court judges.

Mangochi has finally called on Justice Minister Charles Mhango and Attorney General Frank Mbeta to monitor the strength of the MCP through some corrupt judges who are doing everything possible to put to shame the DPP and its leader President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
