Lilongwe-based giants Silver Strikers have taken a significant step toward strengthening their squad after completing the signing of promising youngsters Howard Kamuona and Archangel Mayola from Dowa outfit Mponela FC.
The two players have penned four-year deals, underlining Silver Strikers’ long-term vision of building a competitive and sustainable team structure. Their arrival is expected to bolster both the club’s reserve side and, in time, the senior team.
Confirming the development, Mponela FC General Manager Dzimkambani Sitolo said the move reflects the growing reputation of the club as a breeding ground for talent.
“These boys have earned this opportunity through hard work and consistency. We believe they have what it takes to succeed at a higher level,” said Sitolo.
He added that while Kamuona and Mayola are initially expected to feature for the Silver Reserve side, the pathway to the senior team remains open, depending on performance and adaptation.
For Silver Strikers, the acquisition signals a strategic investment in youth, as the club continues to blend experience with emerging talent in pursuit of domestic success.
Meanwhile, Sitolo emphasized that the departure of the two players should inspire those remaining at Mponela FC.
“Their move is a motivation to other players here. It shows that with discipline and dedication, bigger opportunities will always come,” he said.
As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Kamuona and Mayola to see how quickly they can adapt and make their mark at one of Malawi’s most competitive football clubs.
