Malawian marketing executive Linda Kachingwe-Sisya has reached another significant career milestone after being appointed Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for First National Bank (FNB) South Africa, one of Africa’s leading financial institutions.
Her appointment places a Malawian at the helm of one of the continent’s most influential banking brands, where she will oversee the bank’s marketing, corporate affairs and brand strategy.

Kachingwe-Sisya brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, brand management and corporate communications, having built an impressive career across the consumer goods and financial services sectors.
Her professional experience spans Southern, Eastern and Western Africa, as well as international markets including India, China, the United Kingdom and the United States, giving her extensive exposure to diverse markets and customer segments.

In 2008, she was promoted to Regional Head of Brand for OMO, overseeing East and Southern Africa from Nairobi, Kenya.
Kachingwe-Sisya transitioned into the banking sector in 2009 when she joined Standard Bank Group Malawi as Head of Marketing and Communications.
During her eight-year tenure at Standard Bank, she steadily rose through the ranks, becoming Regional Marketing Head for South and Central Africa before assuming the role of Executive Head of Regional Marketing and Communications for West Africa. She also served on the group’s Marketing and Communications Executive Committee.

Her leadership responsibilities continued to expand after she was appointed Africa Executive Head of Marketing and Communications for both FNB and RMB.
In November 2021, she assumed responsibility for marketing and communications across the group’s Africa and international businesses, overseeing operations in Africa, India, China, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Her portfolio covered retail and commercial banking, corporate and investment banking, wealth management, insurance, lending and digital banking, while also serving on several executive committees across FNB and RMB.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Kachingwe-Sisya will now spearhead FNB’s brand positioning, customer engagement strategies and corporate reputation, helping shape the bank’s growth strategy in an increasingly competitive digital banking environment.
Academically, she holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics from the University of Malawi, an MSc in Strategic Management and Leadership from the University of Derby, and a Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Her appointment is expected to inspire many young Malawians aspiring to build careers in business leadership, marketing and corporate communications, demonstrating that Malawian talent continues to compete successfully at the highest levels of international business.
With one of Africa’s largest banking brands now under her marketing leadership, Kachingwe-Sisya’s achievement further highlights the growing global recognition of Malawian professionals and their contribution to the continent’s financial services industry.
