The Government has allocated K10 billion to the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) to enable the state-owned grain trader to purchase more agricultural produce from farmers across the country.

Mbilizi said the allocation is aimed at providing farmers with a dependable market for a wider range of agricultural commodities beyond maize, while strengthening ADMARC’s role in agricultural marketing.

“The Ministry of Finance has allocated K10 billion to ADMARC to purchase more agricultural products from farmers. This initiative will provide a reliable market for crops and improve farmers’ access to buyers,” she told Parliament.

The Minister encouraged farmers cultivating crops such as soybeans, pigeon peas, groundnuts, and other agricultural produce to sell their harvests to ADMARC and benefit from the programme.

The funding comes as government continues to promote crop diversification and value addition, encouraging farmers to grow high-value crops alongside maize to improve food security and household incomes.
