Some pvt schools risk licence revocation on breach of academic policy


The Ministry of Education has issued a stain warning against some private schools for working against academic calendar.

In a circular, signed by the Secretary for Education Associate Prof Mangani Chilala Katundu the first term of 2024/2025 academic calendar commences on 16th September, 2024 and any school opening earlier than that risks license revocation.

“We have noted that some private schools have already opened as first term for 2024/2025 academic year, the ministry would like to remind these institutions and all stakeholders that the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year starts on September 16th and ends on December 20,2024”, reads the circular in part.

Ministry of Education Spokesperson, Mphatso Nkuonera has confirmed in an interview that the ministry will carry out inspections on ground truthing exercises.
“The Ministry is guided by the laws. As policy holders we will ensure that there’s total compliance to the policies governing the education sector in the country”, said Nkuonera.
